Halloween
After going for a walk on Wednesday, I came home and realized I hadn't carved my birthday pumpkin yet!
goingdriftless gave me a pumpkin and this neat carving kit for my birthday, and I really wanted to try it. I've never carved a pumpkin before -- not even a traditional jack-o-lantern with triangular eyes and nose and a snaggle-toothed mouth, let alone a fancy pattern!
I was really glad I had gotten it as a gift, because I would never have attempted it otherwise! But knowing it had been a gift gave me the needed push, so I brought the pumpkin in off the porch, got out the kit, and got to work.
As soon as I'd seen the kit I had fallen in love with the cat-and-pumpkin-in-the-window image (far right), and the blurbs on the kit made it sound really easy -- just cut out the chosen pattern, tape it on to the pumpkin, trace, and cut.

So all in all it was a good night, and -- except for that one little girl -- a good time was had by all, including me!
